On May 30th, 2009 Girlfriends Care, which is an organization that is dedicated to filling the basic needs of women and children and others in crisis in San Diego County by connecting volunteers with meaningful outreach projects, came out to the St. Clare's Home Program and brought with them a superb lunch, desert and an amazing guest speaker, Candace Pittenger.

Candace is the Founder of “Journey Into You”. She helps people on their journey to heal themselves and create greater love, joy and laughter in their lives.

She is the former executive director of GenAmerica a nonprofit for the elderly in nursing homes for more than fifteen years, Candace used her god-given gifts and talents to train thousands to learn to use her unique communication techniques using gentle healing touch. Candace is also an author, accomplished professional speaker and executive producer and host of the pilot TV show Age Talk, Alive With Age, in its sixth season on north county cable. She has appeared on over 500 radio and television shows nationwide.

In addition, Candace is the recipient of numerous awards for her service including the YWCA Tribute to Women & Industry Award, Citizen of the Week Award given by the Board of Supervisors of San Diego County; and the Channel 10 Leadership Award. Candace was also nominated for the prestigious Service Award given by the President of the United States for her commitment to improving the quality of daily life of elderly Americans.

It was an Honor to be apart of such a wonderful seminar and to hear someone with so much Hope speak about their life and how it is possible to succeed no matter the road blocks we each face. Hope is what carries the women at the St. Clare's Home. Hope for their future, for their recovery and for their children.

Candace had stories, as we all do, and she showed the women a way that you can put those stories behind them and move forward with Honor and Respect in their lives. She so generously donated a book to each of the women and personally signed it and spoke to the women individually passing on her healing words of wisdom.

Thank You Girlfriends Care! What a wonderful gift you have given the women at the St. Clare's Home. It was not only a fun day but a day full of love, joy and laughter and all thanks to the Girlfriends Care and their awesome speaker Candace Pittenger.
