Members of the Casa Knitting Klatch of Casa de las Companas retirement community in Rancho Bernardo recently donated more than 100 knitted items to St. Clare's Home in Escondido, a shelter for homeless and abused women and their children.

ESCONDIDO -- Keeping with a tradition that now spans more than a dozen years, firefighters at Escondido fire station 2 baked about 40 Thanksgiving pies on Wednesday to give to St. Clare's home, a domestic violence shelter in the city.
