Girlfriends Care is dedicated to filling the basic needs of women and children and others in crisis in San Diego County by connecting volunteers with meaningful outreach projects. By providing food, clothing, training, job search assistance, encouragement and love, we actively support and promote self-sufficiency and spiritual well-being.

Our Inspiration - Matthew 25:35-36   “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in; naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you took care of me; I was in prison, and you came to visit me.”

As our clients progress through our program they learn about many different things. One being, that they are women and mothers and they should learn how to pamper themselves.

VL Beauty Center has taken the time out of their busy schedules to bring one of our graduates to her shop once a month and treat them to a “Day of Beauty”. They are treated like the STAR’s they are. Not only do they get a complete makeover but they are taught how to maintain themselves after they leave. 

Alicia was our STAR of the month this month. Alicia is a 24 year mother of 3 and is currently looking for employment and because of the effort of VL Beauty Center Alicia will be feeling more confident out there on her job search.

On May 30th, 2009 Girlfriends Care, which is an organization that is dedicated to filling the basic needs of women and children and others in crisis in San Diego County by connecting volunteers with meaningful outreach projects, came out to the St. Clare's Home Program and brought with them a superb lunch, desert and an amazing guest speaker, Candace Pittenger.

Candace is the Founder of “Journey Into You”. She helps people on their journey to heal themselves and create greater love, joy and laughter in their lives.

Memorial Day is one of our country's most treasured holidays and to celebrate it, the women and children of the St. Clare's Home Program went to the beach to celebrate. We BBQ'ed and swam and BBQ'ed again and it was a wonderful way for not only the women but the family's of the women to spend their time together.
